Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) has commenced the second phase of its Uptown Dubai development, signaling a significant expansion of its real estate offerings. The groundbreaking event follows the selection of Swissboring Overseas Piling Corporation for the crucial enabling and foundation works.

In this latest phase, two mid-rise towers will be erected within the Uptown Dubai district, located at the southern end of the city.

The towers, standing at 23 and 17 storeys respectively, will collectively provide approximately 70,000 square meters (753,000 square feet) of Grade A commercial office space. Additionally, there will be 8,000 square meters (86,000 square feet) designated for food and beverage, as well as retail outlets, maintaining the premium quality of the urban community.

Upon completion, Uptown Dubai is anticipated to feature a total gross floor area (GFA) of 538,000 square meters (5.8 million square feet), with 232,000 square meters (2.5 million square feet) specifically allocated for commercial office space. With the introduction of these two towers alongside Uptown Tower and the recently launched Mercer House by Ellington Properties, more than half of the district’s planned towers have now been launched.

The nine towers within Uptown Dubai will encircle The Plaza, the district’s focal point, slated to host a diverse range of activities including immersive art installations, music, film, and fashion performances.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC, expressed the organization’s commitment to realizing the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He highlighted the successful pre-leasing of Uptown Tower’s Grade A offices as a testament to DMCC’s understanding of the needs of international companies.

Swissboring’s scope of work for the enabling phase will encompass basement retention systems, foundation works for the towers, podium levels, future bridges, dewatering works, and the excavation of the entire plot assigned to phase two.

This new phase follows the 2023 opening of Uptown Tower, an 81-storey structure housing 31 leading businesses, a luxury hotel (SO/ Uptown Dubai), and branded residences. The groundbreaking of Phase 2 underscores DMCC’s commitment to expanding its business district and overall value proposition.
